You cannot send azw3 files by email -- amazon does not allow it -- you'd have to complain to amazon about it. Or you can generate MOBI files of type "both" which can be sent by email.
As for why it does not work in plain MOBI -- you'd have to aska amazon, there is no way for em to guess at the bugs in their mobi renderers.
