Neru, you're going above and beyond the call of duty - AND I CERTAINLY DO THANK YOU for your help and advice. Unfortunately, I think perhaps there's some issue on the ebook reader itself - an issue I created. It works perfectly fine as is (and was given to me as an extremely generous gift!).

I'm sure it's something that I've unwittingly done that will not allow me to get the latest firmware to load w/o that failure and abrupt stop.

I really like the screen clarity, on bold, which is much better than my aging Kobo Glo's screen.
