I highly doubt that's a factor.
If the thing is turned on, it's using power anyway, and monitoring for all sorts of input signals, just like the vast majority of modern devices.
I have no reason to think that monitoring for a wake word uses any more power than monitoring for a remote control operation, Bluetooth connection etc.
