Thanks, the vid I linked to on the front page of liquavista was uploaded to youtube in Nov 2013, 6 months after amazon bought them in May 2013.
So could be the first thing Amazon put out was the black and white Voyage in 2014, a year and a half after the acquisition. Then they use the same model but include the liquavista technology now, after technology improvements that allow faster better display (and some blog is saying the ability to recharge using a cover, which would make it closer to battery life of current kindles than a tablet.). That way it could compete with a tablet for color reading, interactive video inside a book. I haven't seen the new harry potter iBook versions but apparently they include video as well.
