I'm currently nearing the half-way mark in
The Mote in God's Eye by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle. It's my pick for 1974 in my chronological SF challenge. Most of the books up to this point have been around the 200 page mark. My battered old paperback of this one is 560 pages, and they're printed kind of small, and it doesn't even have page breaks between chapters. It's not going that quickly.
It's OK. It hasn't really grabbed me, so far, and it's not yet much of a page-turner, either, but I'm happy enough to read it. It's just that it seems like it might be a long time before I get to read anything else.
