I've used both Pocketbook (free) and Moon+ Pro (not free) in the past to sync epub reading progress between Android smartphone and tablet. I haven't tried sync-ing mobi with either of these apps as all my fiction is epub. I'm not sure whether the free Moon+ app includes the sync option as I only ever installed the Pro version when it was on special offer.
FBReader also seems to have some sync functions but I haven't read up on the details.
