I don't see any difference except in some screen clarity. Most have extra stuff you neither want nor need, none use an external card, and none have a replaceable battery.

There is a difference in OS. Android lets me have my nature guides that are apps along with traditional books.
Using an old reader is the equivalent of buying used books. As long as the book can be read, I'm OK. I prefer to buy print books used. There's other things I want and can use the $ for.
