Depends what your reading preferences are. Anyone who wants to know what I read has only to look at the "What am I reading?" thread in the Reading Recs forum. If your tastes run more to the esoteric, you may have reason not to wish to others to know what you're reading. Your personal choice.

Getting back to the original subject matter, Calibre and the Calibre server would certainly be a reasonable solution.
