Kobo updated, now buggy

Ok so a while ago my Kobo did an update, and since thenits been a bit buggy. Had to soft reset it twice and sometimes it tells me a book is 99% read when I'm only a couple of chapters in. This morning was the worst. It took so long to be useable again I thought it was bricked! Thankfully its back but for how long? Also I transferred a lot of books downloaded fir free from gutenberg, but when I try to read them on the Kobo I get DRM. Theyre free, public domain, and they read fine on my old Sony!

Seriously came close to flinging it out of the window today. All I wanted to do was read a book. Good old paper eh!

I thought of going over to the dark side and getting a Kindle, but would it work with Calibre? And would a paperwhite be a better option than the Fire, which doubles as a tablet?

My Kobo model is N905C
