From your earlier posts I know that the points system suits your buying style and I'm not commenting against that, but I do think that acquiring points is an expensive way to proceed for a customer, and quite an inexpensive way for Kobo to proceed.
yes, I paid for 5 books and effectively got one of a similar value for free, which is a better deal than I would get buying them somewhere else, and better than I could have got buying at Kobo before the super points scheme started. (These are books where the publisher sets the price and doesn't allow promo codes.)

Maybe we look at things differently, but the way I go about buying books is I first decide which books I want to read (without regard to price or availability), then I work out how I can get those books at a reasonable price. If the books are expensive or only available in paper then I put them on my wishlist and wait a while in the hope they will reduce in price or become available as an ebook, but eventually I am going to buy them even if I have to buy the paper version and pay full list price. A super points bonus day (or multi-use promo code if the books are discountable) is a good incentive to take the plunge and buy some of those books I have accumulated on my wishlist.

I know some take a different approach, starting with the price they are willing to pay and then looking for books that fit the price; and will say that if a book is too expensive then they just won't read it at all and will buy something cheaper instead. I can understand that in theory, but I could never think that way.
