In E-ink,however,it's different story. It will work, provided that it can justify the market to buy. These days everybody, except limited numbers, are more than happy with their cellphones, tablets without forcing to put a pc-sticker like gadget into their device(The main purpose is portability of course).

It works,if you can convince a majority of potential consumers to spend a few bucks more on something which seems boring, colourless, dead to them(E-ink screen). They are more than happy to look their favourite TV shows on their tablet, cellphone,on the go devices. How many people do you think they read for the sake of the reading, increasing knowledge, understanding concepts?Believe me,a few!
I guess you make fair points and on the market devices backs it all up.

Bellow the surface though PC Sticks are far from useless in GPU intense usecases(gaming, etc). http://www.digitaltrends.com/computi...enchmark-test/
With IoT being driven by power hungry usecases and applications(such as drones, tablets, Smart devices/sensors) and a decent number of active manufacturers to choose from things will get well beyond PC Gaming on a stick.

Then ofcourse a 13.3" screen at 450 euros is hardly a good alternative to bulk LCD, OLED etc.

Would the price of high ppi and large size(13. And over) epaper screens compete with say a pack of 500 A4 paper sheets I suspect proper freedom of choice will appear on the epaper devices market.
Let it be dull, colourless or boring.
No one who deals with large volumes of documents will be complainig given the physical paper alternative, route of today.

By the way the ereader term itself has a fairly limited scope of meaning imo.

OCR, document scanning on an A4 size epaper for documents filling etc has a much broader market.

Phones and tablets are getting better at it everyday... Ipad pro 9.7 with 1.5% reflectance and and dynamic adjustments to ambient light levels is the best we have today imo(mind you I dont own one or seen one yet, writting this on ipad mini 4 with 2% reflectance).
My argument is that screens wheather LCD, OLED,Qantum dot, epaper or whatever should be easily swappable so you can watch that video on the 9" OLED and reverse the device(dual screen) and read thet website article on the A4 size epaper...
All you are left with is a usb key size device to drive the screen you like...

Should probably be posted elsewhere as this is Onyx B. Max topic thread.
Dasung Paperlike monitor(eink usb) proves another usecase that is strangely absent today.
