Unfortunately, the experiment did not go very well. Took me like 2 hours to get it to work again with the newer one. I could never open those as file-thingies files with the 2.0 one. Just would not do anything, no matter what I tried.
Uninstalled and installed 4.something again and its working again. Well as good as it gets, still making bunch of duplications in the library for some reason. And sometimes it doesn't "find" the program.
For now it works with harlequin.com books and once it doesn't anymore, I guess I am done getting any kind of epub. They are nothing but trouble on my computer. I am stuck with the new version of ADE.
eta: Sorry, I don't know all the numbers and file names off hand right now. On smaller netbook at the moment.
It shouldn't be so hard to get my own darn books and keep them.
But I am so very thankful to those removal tool gurus. I don't want to buy books if I can't read them on my kindle and I also want to actually own my books.

By the time your ADE delivers the new DRM, Amazon could have moved on to KFX and that's not yet reverse engineered. So you could be well and truly screwed.
As for your ADE trouble, remove version 4.x and with regedit, remove all the ADE entries. There could be something left behind that's causing the problems. Once that's done, install ADE 2.0.1, register it, and hopefully all will be well. Oh and one other problem, you might had to remove the key from the DRM tools because the key that you used with 4.x might not work with 2.0.1.
