Both are marketed as a 13.3" eReader and note taking / annotation device, and trying to break into a nice market already supplied by a major manufacturer with an implementation that's not as well refined (and is a Nettronix device, actually) is verrrrry risky. The major manufacturer can put you out of business in a day, happens all the time.

But most people who want a reading device will want to be able to read formats such as ePub or Kindle books on it, which you can't do on the Sony. The Sony is not a generic reading device, but a dedicated PDF reader. It's not a competitor. The Onyx is the competitor, not the Sony.
