As for all e-readers it depends more on the pdf page size itself A5/A4/A3, implemented compression method and the app used, rather than the number pdf pages, illustrations or MBs.

If for whatever reason our ereader is slow at rendering particular pdf, we can relatively quickly change its page size and compression method (using k2pdfopt, Adobe Acrobat etc.) or maybe just install another reading app.
