do you use LCD? There is some research, but it is quite at an initial stage, over the relationship between LCD and quality of sleeping/insomnia. Eink should be preferred.

Fictional books are relaxing indeed, complicated books can make indeed your brain thinking while asleep. I guess should be more something related to your private life than the fictional books. With the exception that your habit of insomnia started when you started to read in the bed, so could be present a certain element of novelty, that could easily disturb your brain.

Best remedy: go to run and before to sleep do an activity as meditation.
