I filed a question about it to github (#1813). For the time being this is still a recognized weakness in Koreader but I have read that there is some work ongoing to address it.

For now inline images (say floating images) can be displayed half correctly. By this, I mean that it's displayed like a raised cap, not inserted within the paragraph. To say it in another way, it's displayed inline but the float property is not recognized which ruins the intended effect.

Top progress bar gone at last

About this obnoxious top progress bar, it's my pleasure to report that it finally went away by its own will (!) when I opened the following book. (I had selected a 1 value for progress bar display).

Now Koreader on 5.7.2 is as fine as ever and very responsive (except for OTA incremental updates).
