For those who are nervous, I can confirm that the jailbreak survives an upgrade to 5.7.3 also (from 5.7.2.1 in my case), although you have to re-apply your bin hacks (but not your extensions).
So far haven't noticed any difference but, like others, I hope it improves battery drain.
