Well, there's still another way: Take it apart and look at the chip itself

(For those with broken irony detectors out there: I'm not actually proposing doing this unless someone has a broken unit just lying around. If you break your Cybook due to some silly thing some guy in some forum said, it's entirely your own fault. Don't blame me.)

EDIT: I remember there being a gallery on Flickr with some relatively high-res pictures of the Cybook internals, but the only one I managed to find was blurry 640*480 and I wasn't able to read what the text on the chip said.
