I cancel my KU account and restart for a month or two periodically. My sisters both access my account so between us, go through about 20 books during that month. Just remember to write a reminder on your calendar to cancel the day or two before. I missed the cutoff this month. It really helped that I was able to create separate KU wishlists. I'm currently at the time of the year where I can barely read an hour or so (allergies), so another reason why a year round KU account doesn't work for me.
Sadly, I must report that while I'm doing well on resistance to ebooks and audiobooks, I bought another gadget about 2.5 minutes after I saw it advertised. It was an Amazon Echo Dot.

[edited to add] Amazon has fixed it. You can cancel any time during the month, but your access won't stop until the last day that you paid for. yay Amazon!
