I do find this whole genre a little odd, to be honest. I am in no way prudish, and am open-minded, but my personal reading tastes just don't go in this direction - I don't mean homosexuality, by the way, I mean explicit sex scenes in novels in general.
To be honest, even in "serious" novels they're not often done well. As to why I find it odd, though - well, from a personal point of view, if I want to be entertained and informed, I read a book. If I want to be titillated, I don't pick up a book...let's just say I'm more of a visual person!
In short, it'd take a bit more than a lengthy descritpion of Brett and Rock clambering from their weary appaloosas for a private hoedown (if you follow me) to get me worked up.
Sorry if this is too much info, by the way, I just find this whole subject amusing!
