Geo-restrictions

Hello everybody,

I don't know if this is against forum rules or not, but oh-so-many years ago in 2007 a fellow Mobileread enthusiast would be nice enough to buy US Sony Reader Store gift certificates in exchange for money so us Europeans could buy English language books (there was only the one Sony store).

Now the Sony Reader is gone and I've migrated to Amazon & the Kindle where most English-language books can be bought easily in Austria. But now I've come across a novel by Australian writer Will Elliott (he of "Pilo Family Circus" fame), called "Nightfall" that is not available on Amazon's German store. Not as a pbook and not as an ebook.

I emailed Random House Australia a month ago and haven't heard anything back.

All I want is to give them some of my hard-earned money. I've still got various Sony Readers, so I'd happily buy a copy in EPUB format, but again - no luck.

The book is available on Amazon's US Kindle store. Is there any way for me to acquire said book legally? Can I somehow circumvent the geo-restriction? Can a US-customer theoretically buy the book and gift it to me (can you gift Kindle books?)

Any ideas?

Matt
