I was told by the CSR my account was ineligible for the Light plan. The reason? It was a "gift" membership so the downgrade to Light was not allowed; only paid memberships can downgrade to Light ('not sure about the introductory membership deals and their eligibility).

CSR offered three months at $7.49/month and at the conclusion of that time period, I could downgrade to the Light membership. I counter-offered one month at $7.49/month. I already have five credits I haven't used--'not really sure what I'm waiting for, but there you are and *then* a downgrade. That was accepted.

In short, gift memberships cannot downgrade to Light memberships--or at least that's what they told me.
Thanks for reporting this. I suspected that gift memberships wouldn't be eligible, but wasn't sure. Now we know.

BTW, trial/introductory memberships do qualify for the "Light Plan". I'm always offered that option whenever I cancel a trial membership.

PS: I'll spend your credits for you and won't even charge you for doing it
