Thanks for continuing to give me feedback, Katie.

My inability to use the USB cable successfully, to access my Fire and transfer files that way, is reason I haven't been able to transfer apps to the SD card. And it's the reason why this problem began in the first place. That's why I was using Calibre Companion as an alternative, to get ebooks from my computer's Calibre to the Fire. So transferring backups of anything, manually, to the card or to the external hard drive isn't possible.

To clarify the issue, I don't want a separate, extra backup to my external drive, to the SD card, or anywhere else. I just want to know that my 'automatic backup' to Amazon Cloud is working. That's why I was asking about the 'old' Manual Backup setting, that appears to have been discontinued. When you go to your Amazon Cloud site, online, there's no indication there (as least as far as I can see) that you've successfully backed up.

You can probably feel my frustration. I will probably have to do a full 're-set to Factory Default' and just take my chances.

Once again, it's not a problem about my 16,500 ebooks. They're very safely backed up in two different places.

I hope you'll hear good news from me soon!
