My reaction is the same as the others: bad scan or otherwise bad PDF. Especially as it is for a new PDF. Have you gone back to the previous PDFs and checked what happens with them? Have you opened the misbehaving PDF on the PC to check what it looks like there?
I also can't picture what you are seeing. Maybe a screen shot would help there. Or if the PDF is freely available somewhere, posting the link would let us have a look ourselves.
As to the epubs not being affected, as they are a completely different format and handled in a very different way to PDFs, that is not surprising.
Also, when reporting problems like this, please include the firmware version. That can help work out if it is a known problem that has been fixed.
