I've not gotten a new computer, but I can answer part of it: anything you xfer off the the Reader onto a PC will carry your bookmarks and such with it. I'm not sure about your library files on the old computer, but I'd guess that if you copy the whole directory and the books over to the new computer you'll probably get most, if not all, of it.
You could try installing the Library software and then copying the data over, and seeing what happens. If it hoses, you could just reinstall the Library software.
If all else fails, you could do it the painfully slow way and transfer all your books to the new laptop via your Reader -- i.e. load them (as many as you can at a time) onto the Reader from the old PC then off-load them onto the new one. A nice big memory card would help there.
It might be slower than day-old gravy, but it ought to work.
