Not at all. No one joins prime unless they already expect they would get value from it, and in utterly no sense is it "paying for the privlidge of buying from them"
And I don't know any prime customers who would hesitate to buy elsewhere if it was a better deal.
Does having Prime encourage us to check Amazon first? I should hope so. It is a loyalty program. That is kind of Amazon's point in offering it
