6. A Suspicious Death
The man was her older brother. There's a well-known syndrome where siblings brought up separately are attracted to each other. Her parents had had a child before they married who was given up for adoption. He murdered their father and then their mother, for reasons unknown, perhaps due to resentment at being given up.
