I kinda get what the OP is saying. I've been hoping for a while that Amazon would revamp the style of the OS. I'm used to stuff from apple where they always have one eye on design and the other on functionality (even if i don't always like the design, it's still better than most other companies) and the kindle interface is just so bland. You can still have ease of use and good looks in one.
I got my hopes up with the tiny screenshot i got in my email for the Feb update with more covers on the homepage and whatnot, but then I come to find out only one is from my library. The rest are pretty much junk (to me). I rarely (if ever) buy books through amazon and rarely use goodreads since nobody else i know reads much and the few that do don't use the service. So having a third of my homescreen UI taken up by that really doesn't help me much. Rather than turn the whole homescreen thing off, I'd rather just be able to have different, more useful content in those sections. But I guess I'm not an average consumer. Maybe the kindle just needs more personalization options in general.
On another note, have any of you guys had trouble updating and keeping your jailbreaks? My OTA update hasn't happened and I was going to manually update, but i thought i should find out about this issue first (and see how people were liking the update)
