mjwilson made a Calibre plugin based on mine, though I don't think it's been updated in a while and isn't fully-featured.
I'll have a look at the apostrophe thing when I have a chance. I hadn't thought about the other versions of it; U+0027 is what I get when I hit ' on a US keyboard
