I am pretty sure that they promised some firmware updates with specific functionality directly when they started to sell the Cybook. We have not seen them yet.

The updates have introduced more bugs, they have reduced the battery time and they have not contained promised things like support for setting the time.
If you do not use DRM buy a Bebook and use OpenInkpot. Also if you want folder navigation buy a Bebook. With OpenInkpot you can use FBReader which is starting to support ePub.
