Per an email this morning from e-publisher Le French Book, Laurent Guillaume's White Leopard is on sale this week for $0.99 at Amazon US. It was also briefly on sale back at the end of last year.

Le French Book's specializes in translating French mysteries; from their website:
Quote:
Bringing France's best mysteries, thrillers, and short stories to new readers across the English-speaking world. If we love it, we’ll translate it.
I have read a few of their other translated mysteries and enjoyed them, but haven't read this one, which looks a little more thriller-ish than mystery-ish, although it's pretty high on my TBR list. I'm a huge Francophile, so YMMV, and also note this is set in the former French colony of Mali, not in France itself.

A FAST-PACED NOIR WITH A MODERN, AFRICAN TWIST

Solo, a former cop, runs away from a dark past in France to start his life over again in Bamako, Mali, as a PI. He takes on what he thinks is an ordinary case, but quickly finds himself in a dangerous confrontation between tradition and corruption. The drug mule gets her throat slit. The French lawyer is too beautiful and too well-informed. The cocaine is too plentiful. Guillaume crafts a tale of high-level corruption with vivid, spot-on descriptions of the Mali underground.

Called a "Mini Masterpiece" and "an intensely true-to-life mystery on steroids," White Leopard is an excellent English translation from one of France's "most respected thriller writers."

"A thrill ride of epic proportions—the real deal! The perfect combination of street smarts and literary talent." —Craig Johnson, author of the Walt Longmire Mysteries, the basis of the hit Netflix drama Longmire

"Fans of classic hard-boiled PI fiction will relish Guillame’s first book to be translated into English... He delivers a tale of high-level corruption that will resonate with James Ellroy readers.” —PUBLISHERS WEEKLY STARRED REVIEW and Book of the Week Pick

"This is crime fiction as hard-boiled as it gets. Guillaume, winner of literary prizes in France, is likely to win fans here, too." —Booklist

"No matter how gritty a hardboiled detective novel can be, it'll always get grittier in the Sahara." —Book Page
