FYI, for your future knowledge--technically, you just violated Amazon's T&C, and voided his contract with Amazon. Amazon very expressly
forbids, absolutely, a third party logging in to a publisher's account. For the purproses of uploading, etc. If your client is disabled, you should have him give you a letter of authorization, to cover your butt.

So I get the epub version, strip the DRM, convert to mobi and then put the file on my Kindle Touch via USB. When I'm done reading the book, I just delete the mobi and index (sdr) file.

You sell the ePUB on various other retailers. Apple, B&N, KoboBooks. AND, to get to Overdrive, you use a distributor. Smashwords or one of the others. That's where ePUBs are sold. No, you won't get anywhere uploading the ePUB at Amazon. Not if you already have the MOBI up there and for sale.
To put a Kindlebook on a Droid phone, you simply read it in Kindle for Droid. Same with other tablets and devices.
