I count freebies as TBR, since I own them and haven't read them. On the other hand, I'm not too fussed about the overall total of my TBR (around 1200), rather just the movement up and down. I accept that I will never read some of the books I own. Some of them, I don't really want to read, but haven't got to the point of definitely eliminating. Some I might have read if I ever ran out of everything else to read, which used to happen back when I was broke and paper was the only option, but isn't likely to happen now.

Even if I try to filter down to a Real TBR of Books I Actually Want to Read, I always find there are too many edge cases.

So, yes, I mainly avoid freebies, too, now.
