We used to call things like that: Laplink cables (those came in 2 flavors: Serial and Parallel. Both are missing from many modern computers) which was how we used to sync our laptops with the desktop (even over a Modem).


and that is a personal (2 device) network of sorts. So yes, just copy the Calibre backup over
