New battery in Kindle 2 doesn't hold charge

Hi,

I recently replaced both the screen and the battery in my old Kindle 2, which hadn't been used for a couple of years due to the screen being shattered. When replacing the battery, I noticed that the old battery had swollen quite a bit.

The Kindle seems to work like it should, but the battery doesn't hold a charge. When recharging, the indicator light turns from orange to green after a few hours. But when I disconnect the charging cable, the battery is depleted in less than an hour, even if I don't use the device. I have tried to charge the battery several times.

Thinking that the new battery was somehow not working, I installed yet another new battery, but the issue remains.

Anyone else with similar experiences? I have another Kindle 2 which is about four years old and has great battery life.
