(The jailbreak package should have installed the 'bridge' but it doesn't hurt to be certain that the bridge thingy is most recent.)

Install Amazon update package.

After the update you will be using a firmware version that requires KUAL and MrPI (a KUAL extension) to re-install everything.
(but you can dump all of the update*.bin files in /mrpackages and MrPI will just get after it <- ah, means: do them all in proper order)

The e-mail is a bit misleading -
Amazon is going to update their servers and system from 20th century crypto to 21st century crypto.
I.E: All devices will need a new set of ssl certificates.
Any other changes are just eye-candy.
