I wouldn't go for circles. If I where you I'd go for a 1/1 grid.
I've added a compressed archive (rar) in attachment with some grids to test or play around with.

I apologize, but haven't had much time lately to do further testing.

You can create your own custom grids in Ms paint (or other video editing software) , and save them as monochrome BMP or GIF.
