In the one room where I have recessed lighting, I use LED BR30 replacement flood bulbs.

I'd be cautious about assuming that LED bulbs will never need replacing. While the actual LEDs themselves are very robust, I've had a few failures of the associated circuitry. Still much better than incandescents, but not a zero failure rate.
