Maybe you can find someone in your area who has soldered such USB ports before... phones use the same kind of port so maybe some repair shop that actually does soldering work? Not sure if it can be saved, it looks rather cooked in your picture.

As long as the device itself still works you could ignore the port, find some external means to re-charge the battery and copy books through wifi or SD-card...

Or you could just sell it to someone who likes to tinker.
