The .NET-error threw me off, thinking it was a problem with ADE. I should have thought of renaming the folder as the first suggestion. Removing plugins, data-files, profiles, and non-essential configuration files from a program is always the first thing to do if it suddenly stops working.

You might need to redownload books you had in the ADE folder if you want to read them or transfer them to an e-reader. I don't know; I never keep them there. After importing and unDRM-ing in calibre, I remove them from ADE and the "My Digital Editions" folder.
I add them to Calibre immediately, but I still keep them in the folder just in case. I also have a folder with the books from the last pc.
