PS I found what the problem was.
The instructions were not here this:
"... Open the Kindle Search (looking glass Icon on newer touch enabled devices) and simply type in:
;fc-cache
followed by enter. ... "

PPS Firmware in my PW3: update_kindle_all_new_paperwhite_5.6.5.bin
Maybe someone tell me where to find the previous firmware for PW3?
That is a FGA - I'll save you the search for that -
Get it from Amazon.

Take the download link for the version above -
replace the 5.6.5 sub-string with the version you want.

The PW-3 (US) shipped with 5.6.1.1 - so you probably will not find that one posted as an 'update_' by Amazon.
And you should not expect (or try) any version older than that.
