Had the same problem with the WiFi. What I did is:
  1. Performed a Factory Reset.
  2. Downgrade to firmware 3.8.0. (I tried 3.17.0 and 3.18.0 without success).
  3. Setup the reader with WiFi.
  4. Upgraded to the latest firmware.

With previous versions I was able to see the name of WiFis with CJK (Chinese, Japanese and Korean) characters on it. Now they just show as "____________" and I am not able to connect to them.
At least with this I recover the ability to connect to WiFi.
