I pay for web hosting on which I have my blog, an RSS feed reader site*, some development stuff, podcasts and an owncloud instance. Currently I have 75Gb stored there - and as such it's more expensive than Apple but cheaper than Dropbox. Although I have to say that I was paying for the hosting anyway and later decided to put ownCloud on it.

I still have Dropbox but I hardly use it now.

I really like ownCloud. It works with my Windows and Linux PCs and my Android tablets and phone. You can also install apps on it, some of which are related to how to handle different file types. So I've got an epub-reader app which means I can read my books from any browser. I've also installed an app that maintains an OPDS (?) catalog so I can connect reader software to it. So I can download books from my cloud via e.g. Aldiko or FBreader directly. That's pretty cool.

I am reliant on the hosting company in one sense. But all the data is mirrored on at least two PCs so I consider that a back up for my cloud. Also I also pay for cloud backup of my main PC anyway so there's a separate back up of everything there.
