I had a similar issue with using the new mobi format on the PW1. Books converted as 'new' wouldn't open, with no real explanation. Hopefully someone else might be able to shed some light on that one.
The result is the same with KindleUnpack. I tried experimenting with offset, but it didn't really work.
Have you tried setting the mobi filetype to both in Calibre? I tried it, but even after fixing asin, the builder gave an incorrect asin error message.
