That shouldn't have caused a problem, but it was probably a sign that something else wrong.

David, the sqlite is file is 40Mb (about 900 books loaded). The database checks OK, and backs up fine. According to Windows Explorer I have used 1.3Gb and have 8k left, although I thought I had an SD card in it. Just looked but the slot seems empty. Doesn't it come with 2 GB internal?
You have 8KB left on the device? In that case, your lucky anything is working. And the compress would definitely not work. I would recommend trying to keep at least 10MB free, and preferably around 50MB free. As this is FW 1.9.17, I would run the "Clean images" function in the Kobo Utilities. From memory, the likelihood of cover images being left behind was fairly high with this.

The Touch has 2GB of internal memory. For the N905 model, this is fixed memory. For the N905B and N905C, it is a micro SD card. The memory is divided into three partitions; the root partition with the OS, the recovery partition and the data partition. The first two are about 256KB each. That leaves about 1.3GB for the data partition.
