Success! Thanks all for your advice - as I was looking at the books I had recently installed I noticed that one had the same author name as title. I removed that book from the Touch and corrected it in Calibre. The Kobo processed the books and now shows all books loaded (except that one).
David, the sqlite is file is 40Mb (about 900 books loaded). The database checks OK, and backs up fine. According to Windows Explorer I have used 1.3Gb and have 8k left, although I thought I had an SD card in it. Just looked but the slot seems empty. Doesn't it come with 2 GB internal?
