Considered yes; the normal use case, no.
How long have ereaders and touch screens been around, and they still can't come up with a better solution? It is time to stop considering and do something.
Until GeoffR mentioned the "too easily clickable endnote problem", I hadn't heard of anyone else complaining. I haven't even heard of anyone complaining about too easily clickable inline table of contents links, and those are HUGH.

I would like the ereader software creators to do more. I don't want to have to strip DRM and run everything through some other piece of software just to get clickable footnote links (and I'm guessing the more typical reader isn't even aware they could/should/have to).
