"Get any Ayn Rand novel or book about Objectivism for free. You just have to pledge to read it." So says the headline at the top of the webpage at
freeobjectivistbooks.org.
In case you don't know anything about Ayn Rand or Objectivism, here's a link to
the Wikipedia page for Ayn Rand.
This is an offer only for students of a high school, college, or university. The way that it works, apparently, is that you sign up and then they find "a donor who will send you the book for free."
Usually I vet book offers before I post them. And by vetting, I mean that I actually get a copy myself and possibly even read some amount of it. I can't do it in this case because I'm not currently enrolled in high school, college, or university--I don't qualify for the offer. So, sorry, you're on your own this time.
Caveat emptor.
I am assuming that this is an offer for an ebook, not a physical book. However, the fact that the website will have a donor send it to you makes me wonder.
Anyway, here are the choices for the book that you can request:
Atlas Shrugged.
The Fountainhead.
We the Living.
The Virtue of Selfishness.
Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal.
Objectivism: The Philosophy of Ayn Rand (by Leonard Peikoff).
And, you can also choose "other" and insert the title of the book that you want.
While I didn't get a free ebook out of this deal, I am glad about one thing: I found out that selfishness is a virtue. I feel sooo much better about myself, now.
