I would say that 4 months (which at the end of this month would be amount of time passed since Amazon was made aware of the bug) is/was polite in the extreme, considering the amount of resources and money Amazon has at it's disposal. Amazon is obviously stalling.
If I'am remembering things correctly the jailbreak author mentioned that the procedure would require factory reseting our Kindles, it would be real nice "joke" in the end if the exploit (if it has something to do with registration process ) could be patched via server side fix!
