It's not in the published text of Golden Beeches, which appears to quote the note in full.
Violet probably wrote the date on the outside of the triple-folded note, above the name and address
Demonstrates the fallacy of seeking authenticity, you'll never get it right - leave it to the readers imagination.
But it's fun to play with if it's just for oneself and one learns something in doing it. And it makes a change from disgusting the tortured syntaxes of xhtml, regex et al
